He/Him

Educated at the top institutions in the world, Leonardo has used his talents and passion to advance human rights, as evidenced in the last few years by his work in the Caribbean region.

Prior to this, he was a Principal Lecturer in law and until March 2010, the Head of the Law Division at Canterbury Christ Church University, where he designed and implemented two qualifying law degrees (a BA/BSc in Legal Studies and a LL.B.) and set up the first mediation clinic within an English university.

Over the last five years, he has conducted a research project in the Caribbean and Latin America with Professor Raúl Zaffaroni, Justice of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (sponsored by the ILANUD and the International Bar Association). The purpose of this work was to assess the socio-legal impact of mechanisms of criminalisation and discrimination against LGBTI people in the region.
