Mental Health Clinic in the Cayman Islands

As a psychologist I have worked with many people from all walks of life and have come to appreciate that every person is unique with their own story and journey. If the journey gets rough, I would like to join you to help you better understand your current difficulties and call on your personal strengths and resources to help you build the life that you have always hoped for. I believe that every person has the ability to lead a rich and fulfilling life. I look forward to how I may be able to help you reach that place.

I am a Clinical Psychologist in the Cayman Islands, licensed for practice in both Cayman and Maryland, USA. Born and raised in Cayman, I completed my Associates in Social Sciences at UCCI then went overseas to complete my undergraduate and graduate training in the United States, returning to the islands in 2013. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia, a master’s and a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, an additional master’s degree in General Psychology from New York University and a post-doctoral master’s degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology.

For the past seven years I have worked in community mental health clinics and hospitals in Florida and in the Cayman Islands. I joined Behavioral Health Associates Cayman (BHAC) in May 2014 where I worked with a wide range of social, emotional and behavioral difficulties, including challenges with relationships, anxiety, and depression but have recently left to set up my own practice. I have a great deal of experience in the treatment of severe mental illness and specialize in helping adult survivors of childhood abuse and persons with substance use difficulties. Additionally, my training in psychopharmacology allows me to better collaborate with medical providers and help you better understand related medical conditions or medications you may be taking.

I work with children, adolescents and adults providing individual and group therapy and conducting psychological evaluations. I also develop and facilitate corporate workshops on wellness, stress management, mindfulness and diversity with my colleagues. My approach to therapy is integrated depending on the client and their unique situation but I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. Through our work in therapy we will put together the pieces of your story to help you understand where the current difficulties are coming from and build skills to help you live a happier, more effective and more rewarding life.
